Maddy
Roberts
Maddy Roberts is an Atlanta-based director. She is also a performer, stage manager, designer, and producer, but her favorite thing to do is synthesize all these experiences and direct. This varied background allows her to thoroughly appreciate and communicate her vision effectively with everyone involved in a production process.
Maddy indiscriminately loves theatre. She has learned as much directing seven year olds in their own original plays as she has producing and directing Tennessee Williams short plays. She loves textual deep-dives and hour-long Viewpoints explorations. The Seagull and Legally Blonde the musical are both formative texts for her artistic identity.
Maddy is a member of the 2023 South Eastern Theatre Conference Ready to Direct Cohort and will be attending the conference March 1st-5th. Recently, she has been working and training with Vernal and Sere Theatre as a member of their advanced invitation-only ensemble. She is also a SeedWorks artist at PushPush Arts. Maddy's SeedWorks plan involves both artistic and leadership development. She is focusing on breaking down the conventional power structures within a rehearsal and production process and encouraging all creatives in a room to have a voice.
She is a graduate of the Rowan University Department of Theatre and Dance with concentrations in Acting/Directing and Design/Tech and recipient of the Philip Graneto medallion for Excellence in Theatre
